How should I prepare my home for professional photography?
Our advice for home sellers is to embrace the principle that less is more. For the best photographic results, keep only essential furniture, tasteful wall art, and a few decorative items visible. All personal belongings and excess clutter should be stored out of sight. We understand that decluttering can be challenging, especially if you are still living in the home, but ensuring a clean and tidy space will allow you to live comfortably while also making your home more appealing in photos.
How long does a typical photo shoot take?
For standard-sized homes, a photo shoot can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the complexity and specific requirements of the session.
Where should I wait during the photo shoot?
During the photo shoot, the photographer may request that you stay in one specific area of the house while they capture the other sections. Afterward, you might be asked to move to a different area. If you prefer waiting outside, please be cautious of being in view of windows and glass doors, as you could inadvertently appear in the photos. Similarly, if you have pets, we recommend keeping them in the garage or taking them for a walk to avoid accidental appearances in the imagery.
What parts of my home will be photographed?
The photographer will capture all areas of your home unless specified otherwise. If there are specific rooms or items you prefer not to be photographed, please inform your agent in advance. Additionally, make sure to communicate these preferences to the photographer before the shoot begins to ensure all your needs are met.
What if my home isn’t ready for the photo shoot?
It’s important that all last-minute cleaning and rearranging be completed before the photographer’s arrival. Ensure vehicles are removed from the driveway, pet food dishes and trash cans are out of sight, and toilet lids are closed. Please avoid leaving items out with the intention of moving them during the shoot, as this can be time-consuming and might prevent the photographer from completing the session. If you anticipate that your home will not be ready on time, please inform your agent as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, the shoot may need to be rescheduled or the house may need to be photographed “as is.”
